I have joined yet another class at Online Card Classes – the holiday class and it is great fun. On day 1 Kristina Werner showed how easy it is to create a night sky using dark blue cardstock and Distress Ink: Black Soot. I can see this technique becoming a fast favourite for me.
Last week I discovered the German stamp company Create a Smile and I ordered a set of stamps and some stencils from them – they arrived yesterday. One of the stencils is called Winter Day and I knew it would be perfect to use these two stencils for a card inspired by Kristina’s.
I did the lower part of the stencil by pressing VersaMark through the stencil and adding white embossing powder, while the snowflakes are made with embossing paste.
For the sentiment I went to one of my favourite sets for small Christmas sentiments: Wplus9’s Heartfelt Holiday. I stamped it in VersaMark and heat embossed it in silver. The banner on which my sentiment is stamped is my own addition to Kristina’s overall design but I wanted to have a sentiment on the card and this was the way I could get one in there.
