Snail mail for you

I very recently received Lawn Fawn’s Gleeful Gardens in the mail and I had to try colouring some of the images from the set. Actually, it was K that insisted on me getting this set and I am happy he did because I can see myself using the images in combination with other Lawn Fawn stamp sets – and the sentiments are different and fun.

For the main image I went with sunflowers, toadstools, grass and a little mail-snail. I was inspired by Latisha Yoast to contain the images within a diecut circle letting the mail-snail slowly inch his way out of the circle. All the images were coloured using my PrismaColor pens and blended using gamsol. For the white on the toadstools and the little white cheek dots on the snail, I used a white ball pen. Since I don’t have the matching dies for this set I handcut around all the images leaving a little white outline.

For the background I chose a black cardstock but wanted to give it a little more pattern. I did this by stamping a polka dot pattern in VersaMark ink making the dots only slightly more black than the rest of the background. Before doing this I had heat embossed my sentiment using white embossing powder.

I’ve added this card to Simon Says Stamp’s Wednesday challenge and there are a few favourite techniques of mine going on here: colouring and blending with PrismaColor and gamsol, heat embossing, watermark stamping and diecutting.
