Hello, wonderful friend

Sizzix has come out with yet another set of cool printable papers. These are made with Father’s Day in mind and I do know that my Danish readers are already done with Father’s Day. But! The papers can very easily be used for non-themed cards – as I’ve shown with my card.

I printed a variety of these papers and used a PageMaps sketch from April as inspiration for the card. Some times I find it difficult to use patterned paper on cards but it can help finding a sketch and then using papers that were designed to go together.

For my main decoration I used Sizzix’s Happy Home die as well as Happiness Expressions as well as a few other odds and ends. I added some Wink of Stella (is it possible to make a card without it?) to the top of the house and to the word diecut. I grounded everything on top of a piece of vellum that works to hold the decorations together in a group and tone down the patterned paper a little.

Wavy birthday card

One of the lessons of Online Card Classes Mask-erade was to mask off an area prior to using a stencil. This is actually a really neat idea because it makes it so much easier to fit in a sentiment on a stencilled card. For my card I used Create a Smile’s Waves Stencil and added a gradient of blues through the stencil.

I liked Kristina Werner’s idea of wrapping twine “around” the masked area so I did that too. I used Winnie & Walter’s The Big, The Bold and Party for the sentiment and the smaller of the sentiments was embossed using a red WOW embossing powder.
