“Getting to Know You” Blog Hop

I was invited by Pia, a fellow Danish cardmaker, to participate in the “Getting to Know You” Blog Hop where I have to answer a few questions about the creative side of life as I know it. So let’s get on with it:

1.What creative projects are you currently working on?

Well, I am always working on the same creative projects just is different forms: Cards – both general and Christmassy, scrapbooking pages with the four kids I scrapbook (none of them are mine) and my digital version of Project Life. I did take an online class last month which has inspired me to try out more techniques so that is something fairly new in my creative process.

2.What inspires your designs?

Mostly the products (and other people that do amzing work with said products) be it paper, dies or stamps. And once in a while I’ll come across a cool poster design, a colour combo or something else that jump starts a creative train of thought and leads to a specific design. I love sketches and other challenges that gives you are starting point from which to go and I will very often use other cardmakers’ cards as sketches or inspiration.

3.What method / process (if applicable) do you apply to each of your creative projects, and how long does each project take to complete?

I started out 20+ years ago and I still very much am a stamper. I love beautiful crisp images and so perfecting my stamping skills have been something I enjoy. I don’t know that there are specific methods / processes that apply to every single project and as for how long each project takes me: Somewhere between ½-4 hours I guess… When you are both a cardmaker and a scrapbooker time varries.

4.If you had to describe your ‘signature’ style, what would it be?

Scandinavian: I love clean lines, bright colours and simple design. You won’t see many 3d flowers, subtle colour or distressing here, but rather white cardbases, bright colours in cardstock or patterned paper and stamped images (but very rarely any that have been coloured in because I am still learning how to). I wouldn’t go so far as to call me style Clean and Simple because I do like multiple layers etc. but I aim for a clean and simple look the Cecilie-way.

5. What are 3 crafting products/tools you can’t live without?

Picture borrowed from Fiskar’s webpage

Paper!
Fiskars Stamping Press (just got it a few weeks ago and I wonder where it was all my life – it is AMAZING)
My ever-growing stamp stash

And tea…

And now I have to pass on the torch to two creative women (because let’s face it there are mostly women in this crowd) that I find inspirational and amazing:

Charlie – who not only thinks out of the box and created the most elaborate and symbolic cards out there but who also had the energy to start OSH. And who is (most importantly) an open, welcoming and wonderful friend.

Sarah – whose creativity seems to know no bounds and to go in all directions. You creates and makes it look so easy and beautiful and effortless. And who I’ve come to know as a true and loyal friend, a pseudo-twin and the mother of my favorite Agnes as well.

Take it away, ladies!
