I didn’t really expect to jump feet first into the tea staining challenge but decided why not. I dyed some felt, lace and some fabric and in order to dry it I ironed it as well as using my hair dryer.
It might be difficult to see in this picture but there really is quite the difference between the original colours and the colours created by the tea staining process.
Once it came to actually using the stained felt and lace, I decided to go for a Christmas card and my made own version of this card. I updated the card to a pink and green version and I really love how it came out.
Both the lace (that used to be a bright white) and the pink felt has been dyed. The way the colours of the original felt has been toned down works really well for softer coloured papers – and for fall and winter projects.
For the very first time I’m joining in the excitement of Stamp-a-faire @ Papertrey Ink. I didn’t buy the kit but I’ll be playing as much as I possibly can and so far I’m really enjoying myself.
The first challenge was to use a combination of a sketch and a set of colours and I must say that all sketches and colour combos were great. I think I’ll have to revisit them and do a few more cards. The card is very different from my usual style but I like it and I liked trying my hand at something new. Obviously, I used Rosie Posie, Turning a New Leaf and Signature Greetings – all are among my favorite stamp sets.
I chose to work with the last of the colour combos and the first of the sketches – lots of fun!
Now I’ll have to go look at the two new challenges posted while I worked on setting up my card making table (at the dining table) and made the first of my cards. I’ll be sitting at the dining table and hubby will be on the couch – should make for a lovely afternoon and evening!
