It is time again: time for the PTI Blog Hop. I was SO lucky that I was drawn as one of last month’s winners which was very exciting. I love the blog hops and I was very happy to see this month’s inspiration photo because I love the colour combo and the patterns.
For my original design for this challenge I found an old piece (from winter 2007) of Cosmo Cricket paper that reminded me of the blue-green pattern in the picture. I mixed it with a soft yellow.
I used a doily, some paper flowers and seam binding to “mimic” the shapes and textures in the picture.
I also managed to include ruffles by adding a ribbon that already has ruffles. I placed it under the seam binding to hide where it is attached to the card. The sentiment from Fillable Frames #8 is embellished with a couple of half-pearls.
Because I really liked the colours, I decided to continue working with them which resulted in a couple of cards more. The patterned paper as well as the yellow cardstock are repeats from the first card, even if they look very different on this card.
I used two of the hearts fromHearts-2-heart #3 to create the pattern on the yellow cardstock. I decided to let one heart be different from all the others and I chose to stamp it in blue as well. This heart was embellished using a half-pearl.
The sentiment from Fillable Frames #4 is tucked in under two strands of seam binding. The two bows are kept together using two pins in colours that are similar to the rest of the card.
My final card was the one I made for last week’s Make it Monday. I used the same patterned paper but futher added to it’s pattern by stamping it with images from Stitches & Swirls.
Instead of drawing a line to act as a border I used my ScorPal to emboss two lines. The sentiment was stamped using Think Big Favorites #7.
I love that my mini-collection of cards turned out so different from one another even though they were created using basically the same materials.
