August Blog Hop

For the first time I’ve decided to participate in the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop and the challenge was to be inspired by the picture above. I loved the inspiration picture and could see so many directions to take my card in.

I was inspired by the colours, the pattern inside the suitcase, the flowers with multiple tones, the light ribbon tied around the jar, the idea of the writing in the books as well as the overall very feminine feel.

The inspiration from the books turned into me using an embossing folder to add some italic writing to the kraft background.

The pattern from the suitcase led me to use the lace (and the blue/red patterned paper). More over the lace added to the feminine look of the card.

The ribbon turned into a loose bow tied using seam binding.

The flowers in the picture had multiple tones of greens and pink and I wanted to recreate that look. My flower is stamped in two tones of green and a red.

To add dimensions to my card I mounted the scalloped circle on some foam squares. Not a lot of dimension but enough to create some shadows and some height differences.
